King Abdullah Congratulates President-Elect Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz sent a cable of congratulations to Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi on June 3, 2014. The following is the full text of the cable:
His Excellency, my brother, President Abdel-Fattah Al-Sisi, may God bless him,
President of the Arab Republic of Egypt
Peace, mercy and blessings of God Almighty be upon you
In this day of history, and in a new stage of the march of Egypt, a country of true Islam and Arabism, I have the pleasure to congratulate you on the kind confidence bestowed on you by the people who entrusted you to carry their hopes, aspirations and dreams for a better future. It is that kind of confidence where hearts before hands are bound together, among all segments, classes, orientations and religions of the Egyptian society to face an exceptional phase of Egypt's modern history.
Mr. President,
Please kindly let your brother who loves his second country, and who is keen on the unity, stability and security of its people, to express his feelings to you, in the most transparent way possible, and say that the people of the sisterly republic of Egypt, who have suffered much in the past period from chaos which was termed by some short-sighted as "creative chaos" but it was in fact no more than a chaos that leads to complete loss and ambiguous fate that targeted the destinies, security and stability of peoples.
It is time to uproot this kind of strange chaos, otherwise any state or nation, who is unable to rein in outlaws, would eventually lose its dignity and honor. If they did so, they would be neglecting deliberately or unintentionally God’s verse “for tumult and oppression are worse than slaughter.” So please, trust in God, believing in no stronger support than he. Then, seek help from Egypt's efficient men as per the Qur’an verse which says, “Truly the best of men for thee to employ is the man who is strong and trusty.”
The forthcoming period is full of great responsibility that necessitates for every man and woman of our sisterly people of Egypt to become as one soul, and to remain committed to responsibility, awareness, vigilance and patience. They have to tolerate all difficulties and stumbles, and become supporters of their president with God's help. Any of you whose upsettedness precedes his patience will stand by the side of the road and become heartbroken and repentant. I don't think that the people of Egypt would be like that. Their awareness will enable them, God willing, to cross all hindrance and difficulties to achieve what all of us desire: security, which, after God, is the pillar of stability of the sisterly republic of Egypt.
Mr. President,
We are aware that you are facing a tough period of time which nobody envies. In this regard, let me remind you, as a brother, that the balance of governance would never go straight unless the sources of injustice is knocked out by the justice-based and righteous-firm sword where grievance would never prevail had the God's firm bond was straightened up. Let us all beware the bad friends as they paint the face of bad grievance with beautiful paints and don't care except for their personal interests. They are the brothers of the devil and his troops on earth.
Dear brother,
Let your patience be wide open for the other party's opinion, regardless of their orientation, through a national dialogue with all parties whose hands have not been stained by the blood of the innocents or terrified the peaceful as whenever dialogue is gearing up to one noble objective and whenever the wills of its organizers is good, other souls will not be grumbled of it or feel arrogant.
We, from this very place, say to all brothers and friends in this world, that Egypt, a country of true Arabism and Islam, needs our help, today rather than yesterday to get out of the unknown tunnel to a reality that gives it support and strength in all fields. So, I call upon the brothers and friends of Egypt to organize a donor conference to help it overcome its economic crisis. All of us should be aware that if they are able to provide assistance, but lagged behind, rather than coming up with this duty, will have no place among us tomorrow if ever they are to meet such circumstances and came to seek our help. At the same time, I call on all brothers and friends to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of Egypt in any form, as tampering with the affairs of this country is as a violation of Islam and Arabism and at the same time considered an infringement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This is a non-negotiable principle under any circumstances. We say so as we trust in God Almighty with a firm belief that whoever stands by God, he will grant him victory and strengthen his feet.
We appeal to God to preserve Egypt from sedition and rift, grant it security, stability and prosperity, and conquer whoever draws a plot against its people.
Peace, mercy and blessings of God Almighty be upon you.
Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud
King of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
