Saudi Ministry of Defense Daily Briefing: Operation Decisive Storm
The following is a summary of the daily press briefing held today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the developments of Operation Decisive Storm. The briefing was conducted by Brig. Gen. Ahmed bin Hasan Asiri, advisor in the Office of the Minister of Defense.

Coalition forces carried out nearly 120 sorties and has the ability to increase the number if military need arises.

The Houthi militia are trying to move supplies and forces towards Aden. The coalition is trying to prevent any supplies from entering the city by targeting Houthi movements near Aden.

Because the coalition controls the roads leading to Aden, Houthi militia have been forced to travel on rough terrains and valleys, which has slowed their movements drastically and made them prone to coalition airstrikes and attacks by the people’s committee and tribes.

The coalition airstrikes continue to target Houthi weapons storage facilities and militia forces in and around Saada, Omran and Sana’a.

Houthi militia are using schools, hospitals and sports stadiums to store military equipment. The coalition targeted playgrounds in Aden and the Ebb Province, where the Houthis were storing large quantity of weapons. The coalition is trying to avoid targeting Yemeni infrastructure, but will not allow the Houthi militia from using it for military purposes.

The coalition forces continued to target caves near Sana’a and Saada to ensure Houthi militia are not using them for storage.

The coalition is working to coordinate distribution of relief supplies to needy Yemeni citizens. The Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders are continuing relief deliveries to Sana’a, which will improve health care and services for Yemeni citizens.

Near the Saudi border, Houthi militia launched mortar attacks at border posts in the Najran Sector. The militia are still employing an attack and retreat strategy when they launch 80mm mortar attack from mountainous sites in Yemen. Saudi Land Forces responded accordingly by attacking the militia.

The coalition’s naval forces continue to check all vessels attempting to enter or leave Yemeni ports. The Russian government sent a ship yesterday to the port of Aden to evacuate some of its citizens.

Media reports that the cities of Aden, Dhalea, Shabwa and Ataq have fallen to the Houthi militia are false.

The coalition forces have a clear action plan and objectives and will not be distracted by the Houthis’ media stunts.

The coalition has not confirmed reports that rebel leader Abdulmalik al-Houthi has been killed.
