Saudi Ministry of Defense Daily Briefing: Operation Decisive Storm
The following is a summary of the daily press briefing held today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on the developments of Operation Decisive Storm. The briefing was conducted by Brig. Gen. Ahmed bin Hasan Asiri, advisor in the Office of the Minister of Defense.

At the request of the legitimate Yemeni president, the coalition has ended Operation Decisive Storm and shifted its focus to Operation Renewal of Hope. The legitimate Yemeni president felt that the main objectives of Operation Decisive Storm have been achieved and the security of Yemeni citizens is no longer in jeopardy. The coalition began its operations after a formal request from the Yemeni government and ended them at the request of the same Yemeni government.

Operation Decisive Storm focused on very specific objectives, including controlling the Yemeni airspace and preventing the Houthi militias and their supporters from using the Yemeni air force. The coalition was able to completely control Yemeni airspace within the first 15 minutes of the operation.

Preventing Houthi militias from entering and controlling Aden was a high priority, successfully carried out with high precision and careful planning.

The political process to protect the legitimate government in Yemen and prevent the Houthis from further threatening Yemeni citizens and neighboring countries has begun.

The Yemeni government will take the next steps to restore prosperity and hope to the people of Yemen through the Operation Renewal of Hope, which will start tomorrow.

Operation Renewal of Hope will support the Yemeni government on the ground as it works toward building a stable and secure Yemen. During this operation, the coalition will prevent the Houthi militias from oppressing and harming people of Yemen.

Supporting relief, evacuation and humanitarian work in Yemen is a top priority for the coalition during Operation Renewal of Hope.

All military operations today were in support of the people’s committees and resistance in Saada, Aden, Sana’a and Hodeidah.

Saudi Border Guards and Land Forces will continue to protect the southern border of Saudi Arabia and will respond to attacks from Houthi militias according. Additionally, the coalition will continue its blockade of Yemen’s territorial waters and ports to prevent the militias from receiving support.

The Saudi National Guard, which plays a major role in the security and stability of the Kingdom, is assisting in the defense of the Kingdom’s southern border.
