(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz and U.S. President Barack Obama spoke by telephone today.
President Obama said he looks forward to welcoming Crown Prince Mohammad bin Naif, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Deputy Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, for the US-GCC Summit. President Obama conveyed his wishes for a successful ceasefire in Yemen and humanitarian aid distribution to the people of Yemen.
King Salman and President Obama also expressed the need for a comprehensive agreement between the P5+1 and Iran, which prevents Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon.
During the call, the two leaders reaffirmed the strong bilateral relations, which started with the historic meeting between King Abdulaziz and President Franklin D. Roosevelt. President Obama reaffirmed U.S. commitment to defending Saudi Arabia against foreign aggression.
The two leaders look forward to continued consultation and coordination on a range of shared interests.
