(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal reiterated the Kingdom’s support for the people of Yemen and their legitimate government. During a joint press conference yesterday in Riyadh with French Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Development Laurent Fabius, Prince Saud condemned the Houthi militias for terrorizing the Yemeni people and expressed confidence that Operation Decisive Storm would restore stability to the country.
Prince Saud also called on Iran to stop supporting the Houthi rebels. “Unless Iran has changed its geography, we are not at war with Iran,” said Prince Saud. “We hope that it [Iran] will take a policy towards the internal conflict in Yemen that doesn’t assist criminal activities of the Houthis against the legitimate order of Yemen and stop the delivery of weapons and aid to the Houthis to continue in this war.”
Prince Saud reiterated the Kingdom’s vision for a comprehensive solution for the Syrian crisis. He cautioned that the flow of weapons to Bashar al-Assad’s supporters has contributed to prolonging the crisis.
Prince Saud praised the admission of Palestine as a member country to the International Criminal Court. He expressed hope that the accomplishment would lead to establishing a viable, independent and internationally-recognized State of Palestine.
