(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Foreign Minister Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir cautioned Iran not use the economic benefits of the nuclear deal to fund “adventures in the region."
In remarks to the press following a meeting today with U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry at the Department of State in Washington, Minister Al-Jubeir said, "All of us in the region want to see a peaceful resolution to Iran’s nuclear program.”
“We all look forward to an agreement that prevents Iran from acquiring a nuclear capability, that has a robust and continuous inspections regime to make sure that Iran does not violate the terms of the agreement, and that has an effective and quick snapback provision that allows the re-imposition of sanctions against Iran should it violate the terms of that agreement.”
“If Iran should try to cause mischief in the region, we’re committed to confront it resolutely,” added Minister Al-Jubeir.
Minister Al-Jubeir and Secretary Kerry reiterated their firm commitment to the strong bilateral relationship.
“We both are committed to ensuring that the strong and historic and strategic relationship between the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to broaden and deepen and strengthen,” said Minister Al-Jubeir.
