(WASHINGTON, DC) - Yesterday, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal gave a speech before the ministerial meeting of the Group of Friends of Syrian People at the 68th General Assembly of the United Nations. Prince Saud, who is serving as the head of the Saudi Arabia's delegation to the 68th U.N. General Assembly, expressed his deep frustration with the situation in Syria.

“More than 140,000 Syrians killed by the hands of the Syrian regime through using missiles, bombers and aircraft were not enough to move the international community, but it waits until the use of poisonous gases internationally banned, which caused the deaths of more than 14,000 victims, mostly women and children, to accuse the regime by committing crimes against humanity,” said Prince Saud.

Prince Saud stated that the Syrian regime has continued to disregard all red lines, particularly with its use of chemical weapons. In addition, Prince Saud emphasized the importance for the escalation for humanitarian aid to the Syrian people.

"We welcomed the Syrian National Coalition and the new formation of its new transitional government. The international hesitancy is an obstacle for achieving peace in Syria. We have to support the coalition and the Free Syrian Army," Prince Saud added.
