His Royal Highness Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with President George W. Bush at the White House today.
His Royal Highness described the meeting, which covered a range of issues, and in particular the current situation in Afghanistan and the Middle East peace process, as “positive and productive.”
With regard to the situation in Afghanistan, His Royal Highness expressed the Kingdom’s total commitment “to fighting terrorism with the objective of bringing justice to those who perpetrated the criminal and heinous acts.” His Royal Highness was pleased to find that there is a desire by the President to see a speedy end to the suffering of the people of Afghanistan, an objective to which the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is completely committed, and towards which the Kingdom is working with friendly countries to achieve.
With regard to the Middle East peace process, His Royal Highness stated that he was “pleased to find the U.S. committed to continue to play its role as the main sponsor of the peace process and that this commitment is a continuous effort.” His Royal Highness expressed the hope “that the position of the U.S. will soon be announced in this regard.”
