Saudi Arabia and Turkey today signed an agreement in Istanbul to form a coordination council to further strengthen bilateral ties.

The objective of the Saudi-Turkish Coordination Council is to enhance coordination between the two countries in the fields of politics, diplomacy, economy, trade, banking, finance, maritime navigation, industry, energy, agriculture, culture, education, technology, military, military industries, security, media, television, and consular affairs.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Kingdom’s delegation to the 13th Summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul, Turkey.  King Salman returned to Saudi Arabia later in the day and was seen off by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The King Salman Centre for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (Ksrelief) today signed a fifth contract with a private hospital to provide medical care for injured people in Taiz Province.

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan received at the Presidential Palace in Ankara today the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.  Prior to their bilateral meeting, President Erdogan awarded King Salman Order of the State of Republic of Turkey, nation’s highest award in recognition of his contributions for enhancing the Saudi-Turkish relations.

The King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid (KSRELIEF) distributed 5,500 food baskets over the needy in Taiz province in Yemen. The center is targeting 100,000 food baskets.

During his current official state visit to Egypt, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received today an honorary doctorate from Cairo University following his four-day official visit to  Egypt.

Following his recently-concluded visit to Egypt, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz is scheduled to pay an official visit to Turkey today to hold talks with Turkish President Recept Tayyip Erdogan on bilateral relations and regional and international issues of mutual concern. King Salman will also attend the two-day 13th Islamic summit in Istanbul on Thursday, April 14, 2010.

The Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen announced in a ‎statement today that it will observe a ceasefire in Yemen tonight in response to a call from ‎Yemeni President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi. The ceasefire began at midnight local time. ‎In a statement, the coalition said it is committed to the ceasefire, but reserves the right to respond to any rebel attacks.
