Minister of Education Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, who serves as Chairman of the King Faisal International Prize (KFIP) Commission and Executive Director of the King Faisal Foundation, attended a ceremony announcing the winners of the Prize in Riyadh this evening. KFIP Secretary General Dr. Abdullah bin Salih Al-Othaimeen revealed the winners of this year’s Prize, which is offered in five different categories.
The Service of Islam category was won by Dr. Ahmad Abu Bakr Limo of Nigeria. The Islamic Studies category was won by Professor Abdulwahab bin Ibrahim Abu Suleiman of Saudi Arabia. The Arabic Language and Literature category was won by Dr. Abdullah Ibrahim Allawi Albosabah of Iraq. The Medicine category was won by Professor Yuk Ming Dennis Lo, a Chinese and British national. Finally, the Science category was won by Professor Gerd Faltings of Germany.
The 36th King Faisal International Prize announcement ceremony was attended by a number of princes, ministers, officials and members of the diplomatic corps accredited to the Kingdom.
