Syracuse University awarded Prince Sultan bin Salman the University’s prestigious Chancellor’s Medal for Outstanding Achievement during a ceremony today. He was recognized for his lead role as President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA), an office he used to foster a better understanding of and appreciation for Saudi Arabia, its people and its rich cultural heritage; help to launch a collaborative partnership between Syracuse University and Princess Nora bint Abdulrahman University; maintain his enduring, deep dedication to scientific exploration and knowledge; and promote services and research for those with disabilities.
Prince Sultan is president of the SCTA, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Prince Salman Center for Disabilities Research in Riyadh and the first Arab and Muslim astronaut. The Chancellor’s Medal is given to individuals in honor of their expertise and contributions to their community, the University and the world. Previous honorees include Vice President Joseph Biden and Nobel Peace Prize recipient Shirin Ebadi.
