King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden, who is also Honorary Chairman of the World Scout Foundation, today presented the Messengers of Peace Hero Award 2014 to Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the U.N., Ambassador Faisal bin Hassan Trad, and Saudi Consul General in Geneva, Salah Al-Muraiqib. The award was in recognition of their personal and practical efforts in support of the Messengers of Peace Project. The award was presented at the 68th World Scout Association meeting in Geneva, Switzerland.
Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, working closely with King Carl XVI Gustaf, launched the Messengers of Peace Initiative in 2011 to inspire Scouts in different countries and recognize their contributions toward the development of global peace. The initiative also provides support, motivation and resources to encourage Scouts worldwide to expand their impact on global peace.
