The Saudi-led Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen today reiterated its commitment to abiding by international law in military operations in order to protect civilians.
In a statement issued in Riyadh, the coalition said it has imposed strict rules in accordance with the principles of international humanitarian law and human rights. The rules focus on the identification of military targets through several stages. The coalition constantly updates a list of sites prohibited from being targeted, notably those with civilian presence, places of worship, diplomatic quarters, government and non-government organizations, and cultural sites. In order to prevent civilian deaths, coalition forces provide advance warning of strikes, as well as train forces in international law.
The Arab coalition defended its military involvement in Yemen in light of increasing Houthi aggression.
