Steven Beshear, the Governor of the U.S. state of Kentucky, and Prince Nawaf bin Faisal bin Fahd, the Vice President of Youth Welfare, opened a five-month exhibition entitled “A Gift from the Desert: The Art, History and Culture of the Arabian Horse” in Lexington, Kentucky last night. The event, which cost $2.3 million, is being sponsored by the Saudi Arabian Equestrian Federation and will feature more than 350 pieces of art and artifacts collected from museums and individuals around the world.
In press statements following the inauguration, Prince Nawaf highlighted the strength of Saudi-U.S. relations. He noted that the exhibition, which took three years to prepare, is the world’s largest display of the history of horsemanship.
“A Gift from the Desert” will run from May 29 to October 15 at the International Museum of the Horse at the Kentucky Horse Park.
