The Saudi Embassy in Washington, D.C., in cooperation with Dar Al-Hekma College, today opened a photo exhibit by Saudi women photographers. The 37-piece exhibition, entitled “Photography Through the Eyes of Saudi Arabian Women” is the first of its kind to be exhibited in the United States.
The initial showing of the exhibit in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in April 2010 was organized by Saudi photographer Rania A. Razek, showcasing photographs by amateur and professional female photographers.
The photographs from the exhibit are also featured in a book entitled Photography Through the Eyes of Saudi Arabian Women created by Ms. Razek. The book includes the experiences of female photographers living in Saudi Arabia. The photographs featured were taken in a variety of places in Saudi Arabia and around the world. They cover the following topics: visions of life, portraiture, abstractions, Saudi Arabian culture and photo art.
The exhibit will run from July 27-August 6 at the Embassy’s main lobby during business hours.
