In remarks at the Leaders' Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism hosted by the United Nations, Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir reaffirmed the Kingdom’s resolve to uproot the terrorism phenomenon.
Minister Al-Jubeir called on all countries to provide necessary support for the Counter-Terrorism Centre, which was established by the Kingdom under the umbrella of the UN. "Based on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's conviction that the best way to confront this great evil is through collective and organized work, it has been keen to comply with the requirements of UN Security Council Resolutions 1267, 1989, 2161, 2170 and 2178 in addition to taking internal measures adopted for the purpose of countering terrorism and extremism.,” Minister Al-Jubeir said. He added that in the context of its anti-terrorism stance, the Kingdom condemns false statements made by some terrorist that make the religion of Islam a pretext for their horrendous acts, stressing the fact that Islam is the religion of peace, tolerance and moderation.
