The Coalition Forces to Support the Legitimacy in Yemen Spokesperson, Colonel Turki Al-Maliki, issued a statement that, at 4:11 A.M. dawn of Tuesday June 5, 2018 local time, the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces (RSADF) intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Iranian-backed Houthi militias from Yemen aimed towards the Kingdom. The Coalition's Spokesperson stated that the missile launched was aiming for the city of Yanbu, deliberately targeting highly populated civilian areas. The RSADF succeeded in intercepting and destroying the missile, thankfully without causing any injuries. Spokesperson Colonel Al-Maliki pointed out that the firing of ballistic missiles for the second time, during the presence of the Special Envoy of the Secretary General of the United Nations to Yemen in Sana'a, proves the indifference of Houthi terrorist militias to the United Nations efforts. Additionally, Col. Al-Maliki stated that this hostile action by the terrorist Houthi militias, backed by the Iranian regime, is proof of the continuing involvement of the Iranian regime and their support of Houthi armed militias with qualitative capabilities, in a clear and explicit defiance for the violation of United Nations resolutions (2216 and 2231). This action is taken in order to threaten the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, in addition to regional and international security. He also stated that launching ballistic missiles towards densely populated cities and villages is in violation of International Humanitarian Law.
