The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz – may God preserve him - has followed with the utmost attention the truce reached during Eid Alfitr between the Afghan government and the Taliban Movement. He expressed his happiness, and support for this blessed step, and that he hopes for extending that truce and building on it for a longer period of time so that all parties can seek to achieve peace for the Afghan people. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques added that the brotherly Afghan people, who suffered a great deal from the war, aspire, along with the rest of the Muslim world, to close the previous chapter and open a new page based on tolerance, reconciliation, rejecting violence and preserving innocent lives, as per the great Islamic guidance, which calls for renouncing sedition and acting cooperatively to establish benevolence, piety, forgiveness and mending fences between brothers. His Majesty the King prayed for God Almighty to grant success to the Afghan people so as to be able to serve their country’s interest, and to help them achieve reconciliation and establish security and stability for the Republic of Afghanistan and its brotherly people.
