The official spokesman for the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen, Colonel Turki Al-Malki, said that at 8:20 pm on Thursday, the Saudi Royal Air Force (RAF) sighted the launch of a ballistic missile from within Yemen towards the Kingdom's territory. He further iterated that the missile was heading towards the city of Khamis Mushait in the southwestern province of Asir. Col. Al Maliki confirmed that the ballistic missile was intercepted and destroyed without any casualties. He further distilled that the possession of ballistic weapons by terrorist organizations, including the Iranian-backed Houthi armed militias, poses a real threat to regional and international security and firing them at populated cities is a categorical violation of international humanitarian law. The Coalition affirmed that the continuous firing of ballistic missiles by the Iranian-backed Houthi militia, targeting neighboring cities, is the most substantial evidence that there is a consistent stream of weapons smuggled into Yemen, which is a total violation of UN Security Resolution No. 2216.
