The Ministry of Interior today said the nearly 1,100 photos distributed to foreign diplomats to help identify nationals who have died in this year’s pilgrimage to Makkah are from the entire event, not just the disaster in Mina. The death toll for the Mina tragedy on September 24th remains 769 people, with another 934 injured.

Interior Ministry spokesman Maj. General Mansour al-Turki said the pictures also include people who died of natural causes, including foreign residents who performed the pilgrimage without the legal permits, as well as laborers from South Asia who choose to work in Saudi Arabia in order to perform the pilgrimage. Maj. Gen. Al-Turki added that the list also includes unidentified victims from the September 11 crane accident over the Grand Mosque.
