Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz received a telephone call from US President Barack Obama early this morning (Saudi time). The President briefed King Salman on the details of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) regarding Iran’s nuclear program, agreed upon by the P5+1, the European Union and Iran. President Obama underscored that the United States is committed to peace and stability in the region.
In response, King Salman confirmed that Saudi Arabia supports any arrangement that guarantees preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon, and at the same time includes an inspection mechanism of all sites.
During the conversation, King Salman and President Obama reviewed the latest developments in the region, particularly in Yemen. They also confirmed the strategic and distinguished relations between Saudi Arabia and the United States.
