King Salman Chairs Cabinet Session
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon.
King Salman began by briefing the Cabinet on the two phone calls received from the Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and the British Prime Minister David Cameron, and the outcomes of his receptions with Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu, the US Commander Central Command, Indonesian Minister of Defense, Malaysian Minister of Defense, Deputy Minister of Defense of Brunei, commending deep bilateral relations between the Kingdom and said countries.
The Cabinet condemned the terrorist bombing that targeted the Ridha Mosque in Ahsa Governorate, stressing that this criminal is a deviation from the teachings of Islam indicating that what happened will only increase the Kingdom's determination in eradicating terrorism and the evils of the deviating groups. The Cabinet also commended the security authorities through their ongoing investigations to reach the results of the act that targeted worshipers at the Mosque of Command of Special Forces in Asir region.
The Cabinet reconfirmed the Kingdom's support for the decision of High Negotiating Commission of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Powers in Riyadh to participate in the negotiations of Geneva conference for the implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2254 with all its provisions, stressing the Kingdom's position in support of the Syrian opposition and the political solution based on the principles of Geneva 1.
The Cabinet welcomed the statement issued by the Command of Coalition to Support Legitimacy in Yemen in which it announced the formation of a high level independent team of competent and specialized senior officers, military advisers and experts in the field of weapons and the international humanitarian law to assess accidents, verification procedures, and used targeting mechanism and its development.
The Cabinet emphasized that the Palestinian cause was and is at the Kingdom's forefront concerns, and its call on the Security Council to set up an international protection system on the occupied State of Palestine, including Al-Quds, in accordance with the Fourth Geneva Convention and the relevant resolutions of international legitimacy, and that no matter what difficulties and challenges have swept the Arab region, they will not deter or preoccupy the Kingdom from standing by the Palestinian people.
On domestic affairs, the Cabinet discussed numerous issues and expressed its appreciation to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques for his interest in the national heritage, stressing that his patronization of the inauguration of the 30th session of National Festival for Heritage and Culture in Janadriyah embodies his keenness and care for knowledge, culture and its importance in the Kingdom’s nations-building.
