King Salman Chairs Cabinet Session
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh on this afternoon. At the outset, King Salman briefed the Cabinet on his talks with Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces of the United Arab Emirates, and Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, Emir of Qatar, and the phone call he received from German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The Minister of Culture and Information said that the Council of Ministers discussed a number of topics on local affairs, commending the holding of the meeting of the tenth national dialogue in its second phase, in Jeddah, under the title "Extremism and its Effects on National Unity" as part of the efforts and activities carried out by King Abdulaziz National Dialogue Centre to address the problem of extremism with the meeting discussing the reality of extremism and militancy and its most prominent manifestations, which led to the provision of incubating atmosphere for this problem at both Sharia and intellectual levels, and focusing on the conditions that contributed to its emergence at the local, regional and international scenes.
The Cabinet then approved the following: authorized the Foreign Minister, or his deputy, to discuss a draft memorandum of understanding regarding political consultations with Gabon; authorized the President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities, or his deputy, to discuss a draft memorandum of understanding in the field of archeology, museums, architectural heritage and handicraft industries with Peru; approved the agreement on the avoidance of double taxation and prevention of tax evasion taxes of income and capital taxes (and protocol) with Azerbaijan, signed in Riyadh May 13, 2014; approved the memorandum of understanding in the area of civil service with Jordan, signed in Amman on August 5, 2014; authorized the Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of Water and Electricity to prepare a new survey of the land granted to the National Agricultural Development Company (NADEC) and Qassim Agricultural Company and Tabuk Agricultural Development Company (TADCO); and authorized the President of the General Authority for Civil Aviation, or his deputy, to sign draft agreements in the field of air transport with the Maldives, the Czech Republic, and Luxembourg.
