The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the weekly session of the Council of Ministers in Riyadh today. He began the session by welcoming Crown Prince Mohammad bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, and Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Deputy Crown Prince, Second Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense, and the new ministers and officials. King Salman expressed his appreciation to Prince Muqrin bin Abdulaziz for his long and dedicated service to the nation.
The Cabinet then reviews a number of domestic and international issues. The Cabinet welcomed the appointment of Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed of Mauritania as U.N. Secretary General’s Special Envoy for Yemen and wished him every success in his mission. The Council also hailed the results of the consultative meeting of the GCC Ministers of Interiors and their adoption of a GCC unified terrorist list to enhance joint security.
The Cabinet then approved the following: authorized the General President of Youth Welfare, or his deputy, to negotiate and sign a cooperation agreement with Iraq in the field of youth and sports; authorized the Minister of Foreign Affairs, or his deputy, to negotiate and sign a draft memorandum of understanding on political consultations Peru; the addition of a representative of the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu to the National Committee for Legalization and Standardization of the Operation and Maintenance; the reduction of the prices of jet fuel at King Abdulaziz International Airport and King Khalid International Airport, and SR 0.20 ($0.053) per liter a the rest of the nation’s airports.
