King Salman Chairs Cabinet Session
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz condemned Friday’s terrorist attack on the Imam Ali bin Abi Talib Mosque in Al-Qudayh that at least 21 people and injured more than 100 others. Addressing the weekly Cabinet meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah this afternoon, King Salman said that the enormity of the heinous terrorist crime targeted a mosque in Qudayh is contrary to Islamic and human values, and we were all distressed by this heinous crime. King Salman stressed the Kingdom's efforts will never cease at any time to fight the deviant thought, confront the terrorists and wipe out their hotbeds. King Salman affirmed his directives that every participant, planner, supporter, collaborator, or sympathizer with this crime shall be held accountable and brought to justice. The king offering his condolences to the families of the deceased people in Qudayh, praying to Allah Almighty to bless their souls and a speedy recovery for the injured people.
The Cabinet condemned the terrorist attack and commended the security services in their swift detection of the perpetrator and the arrest of most members of the terrorist cell behind the mosque attack and other terrorist attacks.
The Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Adel bin Zaid Altoraifi said following the meeting that King Salman briefed the Cabinet on the results of his meeting with President Omar Hassan Al-Bashir of Sudan and his telephone call with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas. He also briefed the council on the messages he received from King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein of Jordan and Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena.
The Cabinet expressed its appreciation on the 34th Anniversary of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and commended the Riyadh Declaration and the final statement of the Riyadh conference’s “Saving Yemen & Building a Federal State.”
Dr. Al-Toraifi said the Cabinet then approved the following: authorized the Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, or his deputy, to negotiate a draft security cooperation agreement with Djiboutian side a between the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Government of the Republic of Djibouti; a memorandum of understanding between the Saudi Red Crescent and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, which was signed in Jeddah on 07/12/1435 AH; the re-formation of the committee in Article 35 of the Patents, Layout Designs of Integrated Circuits, Plant Varieties and Industrial Samples, issued by Royal Decree No. M / 27, (29/05/1425 AH), for a period of three years, effective 18/09/1436 AH; standardize the compensation paid to members of board of directors of governmental institutions, commissions or agencies; authorized the President of the General Civil Aviation Authority, or his deputy, to sign a draft agreement with Botswana in the field of air transport services.
