King Salman Chairs Cabinet Session
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah palace in Riyadh this afternoon.
The King began by briefing the Cabinet on his meeting with former King Juan Carlos of Kingdom of Spain then the Cabinet welcomed the leaders of Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States in their summit at 36th session scheduled to be held in Riyadh, commending achievements of the GCC states.
The Cabinet reviewed the Kingdom's emphasis in the Conference of States Parties to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons at its 20th session in The Hague on the importance of implementation of Chemical Weapons Convention. It also called for an investigation in Syria based on the UN Security Council Resolution No. 2235 in 2015 on the formation of a joint committee between the Organization and the UN to investigate the use of chemical weapons in Syria.
The Cabinet highlighted the Kingdom's call in 21st Conference of the States Parties to United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change in Paris on the importance of working to launch the initiative for research and studies of clean energy (technical innovation), encourage support for investments and increase them in these areas.
The Cabinet praised the signing of the first meeting's minutes of Saudi-Egyptian Coordination Council in Riyadh including the formation of working teams to support the Council to complete reviewing initiatives, draft agreements, memorandums of understanding and executive programs emanating from Cairo Declaration.
The Cabinet was briefed on the results of the participation of King Salman Center for Relief and Humanitarian Aid in the 6th annual conference on effective partnership and exchange of information on humanitarian programs in Yemen.
The Cabinet commended the Kingdom's keenness to solve the Syrian crisis politically and welcomed the Vienna II group’s request to host a conference in Riyadh for Syrian opposition of moderate Syrian opposition to participate in an expanded meeting of the Syrian opposition in Riyadh on December 8- 10, 2015.
The Cabinet condemned the terrorist bombing and assassination of Governor of Aden, as well as the terrorist attack inside a social service institution in the city of St Bernardino, California, calling for concerted international effort to fight terrorism.
On domestic issues, the Cabinet commended the approval of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques of launching King Salman Program for Human Resources Development aiming to raise the quality of a government employee's performance and work productivity.
The Cabinet was finally briefed on local reports including preparations for the upcoming municipal elections.
