King Salman chairs Cabinet Session (04/18/2016)
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz chaired the Cabinet's session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon.
The Cabinet applauded King Salman on the success of his visit to Egypt and the signing of numerous agreements and MoU during the visit, as well as the establishment of a causeway between the two countries.
The Cabinet also commended King Salman on the success of his visit to Turkey and the establishing the Saudi Turkish Coordination Council to strengthen political, economic, trade, military, security, energy, media, journalism, education and culture ties.
King Salman also briefed the cabinet on his meetings in Istanbul with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan in finding a just solution to the Palestinian issue, ending the Syrian crisis and countering the interventions in the internal affairs of countries of the region. He also briefed the Cabinet on his consultations with heads of states and heads of delegation at the sidelines of the 13th summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in Istanbul.
The Cabinet applauded the OIC communiqué, including its denunciation of the attacks on the Kingdom's diplomatic missions in Tehran and Mashad, as well as Iran’s provocative statements and its interference in the internal affairs of OIC member states. It also praised the OIC’s pledge hold an international peace conference as early as possible to forge mechanisms to provide an international protection for the Palestinian people and end the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, including Al-Quds.
The Cabinet reiterated the Kingdom's rejection and condemnation of the terrorists acts in all its forms and whatever its objective or sources and expressed denunciation and condemnation of the terrorist act which took place in Karbabad, Bahrain. The Kingdom reaffirmed the Kingdom’s unwavering stand with Bahrain in fighting terrorism.
The Cabinet expressed its appreciation to Kuwait for hosting the Yemen reconciliation talks and expressed its hope that the talks will success to being about the resumption the political process and a settlement to the Yemeni crisis in accordance with the GCC Initiative, the outcomes of the national dialogue and the UN Security Council Resolution 2216.
