The Saudi Foreign Ministry summoned Iran's ambassador today after four Saudis died from poisoning in the northeast Iranian city of Mashhad. Ministry spokesman Ambassador Osama Nugali said in a statement that the Kingdom expressed deep concern over the death of the four children and the injury of 28 other Saudis, and urged the Iranian authorities to conduct a thorough investigation and reveal all circumstances surrounding the poisoning. Ambassador Nugali also said the Kingdom demanded that Iran cooperate with the Saudi embassy in Tehran and the Consulate General in Mashhad in order to allow Saudi embassy staff to follow up the medical condition of the patients and to provide all the necessary facilities and care needed by the Saudi citizens in Iran as well as to provide the necessary protection for them.
Ambassador Nugali added that Kingdom’s charge d’affaires in Tehran visited the victims and to offer support.
