Downtown Awamiyah Development Opens
The Governor of the Eastern Province HRH Prince Saud bin Nayef inaugurated today the Downtown Awamiya project in the city of Al Qatif, Saudi Arabia. HRH was received by mayor Fahd Al-Jubeir, the governor of Qatif and a number of senior officials.
Upon his arrival at the headquarters of the project, HRH cut the ribbon then toured the area, and listened to a brief by the mayor. Mayor Al Jubeir thanked HRH for his efforts at realizing this development: “I remind those present that we were in the same place less than a year ago. We were delighted when you placed the cornerstone of this project. Now we are living another joy, on the occasion of the inauguration of this edifice, which will be a beacon of culture to the people of the region and provide a meaningful recreational environment that evokes the past and the dream of the future. "
Al-Jubair pointed out that this project is considered unique in terms of traditional architecture in the Qatif area with its high towers, traditional houses, spacious squares, popular markets and a number of monuments that bring to mind many memories to the residents of Qatif. "However, the importance of this project depends not only on its architectural and engineering dimension, but also on the development of a new concept of active participation of citizens in shaping development. The people of Qatif participated in the project design stages and actively participated in the implementation." He said.
At the end of the inauguration ceremony, HRH the governor said: "We thank God for his many blessings, and today I am happier than anyone else as I attend the opening of this development project in central Awamiya after a whole year."
“This project comes under the guidance of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, where an integrated team was formed in order to transform the area from a once hostile, environmentally unsafe, and dangerous place into a beacon of culture, commerce, and prosperity.”
HRH stressed that all owners of real estate property have received full compensation, noting that the province of Qatif has completed the compensation process for all real estate owners in the area.
