After circulation of various media reports about Al Qaeda in Yemen, Colonel Turki AlMalki, the Official Spokesman of the Coalition to Restore Legitimacy in Yemen stated yesterday that the Coalition is waging a war against terrorist groups in Yemen such as AQAP, ISIS and the terrorist Iranian-Houthi militia, which are joined by common extremist ideology and intolerance.
Since the beginning of the Coalition’s operations in Yemen, it has worked diligently with allies and on-the-ground partners to weaken AQAP through various Counter Terrorism Operations, depriving them from safe havens, and cutting off their access to funds, as well as, depriving them from recruitment. The result was a significant weakening of the terrorist group to unprecedented levels. The Coalition remains determined to insure AQAP is destroyed, and will continue its efforts in that regard.
“The Coalition has and will continue to carry out joint operations with brotherly and friendly nations to dismantle the capabilities of said groups through air, naval and joint special forces operations under the international cooperative efforts to eradicate terrorism and sustain International Security,” he stated.
Colonel AlMaliki affirmed that recent media reports on AQAP did not verify the Coalition’s efforts in combating terrorism. The Coalition was and is always ready to provide detailed information in this regard.
“All channels of communication with members of the media are open,” he further added. Col. AlMalki concluded that the Coalition will continue its efforts and operations to combat terrorist groups in Yemen under international efforts to eradicate terrorism all around the world, and its cooperation with brotherly and friendly nations through intelligence-sharing and Joint operations to combat AQAP, ISIS and the terrorist Iranian-Houthi militia.
