The Ministry of Interior announced today that two suicide bombers had been prevented from entering Al-Imam Al-Reda Mosque in Al-Mahasen District of Al-Ahsa Governorate while worshipers were performing Friday Prayer.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Interior said that security officers managed to spot the two suicide bombers as they drove to the mosque. The spokesman said that when the security men blocked the two suicide bombers from entering the mosque, one of them blew himself up at the mosque's entrance. There was also an exchange of fire with the other would-be suicide bomber, who was injured and then arrested with an explosive belt in his possession.
The spokesman concluded that the suicide bombing incident resulted in the martyrdom of two and the injury of seven among the worshippers. The incident is now being investigated.
