Saudi Ambassador to the U.S. Adel A. Al-Jubeir hosted a reception at the Embassy in Washington last night in honor of Saudi Arabia’s 77th National Day (based on the Gregorian calendar). The event showcased Saudi food and culture, giving guests the opportunity to experience Bedouin tents and Arabian coffee and dates. Saudi student volunteers, wearing traditional robes, were on hand to answer questions and share information. During the reception, Ambassador Al-Jubeir mingled with the the many guests.
Saudi National Day, which marks the anniversary of the founding of the modern Kingdom by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 1932, is observed annually on September 23. This year’s reception was held later because September 23 fell during the Holy Month of Ramadan.
