As part of the Kingdom's ongoing efforts to promote security and safeguard the region from instability, His Excellency Minister of Foreign Affairs Adel Al-Jubeir announced that Saudi Arabia successfully reached an agreement to establish a new regional security entity to safeguard the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden after a meeting that gathered representatives from seven Arab and African countries overlooking the strategic water routes. The Council of Ministers, chaired by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, approved the state budget for fiscal year 2019, in a session held at Al Yamamah Palace in Riyadh. During the session earlier today, His Majesty stated the following:
"We here announce that the budget for fiscal year 2019 is the largest budget in the history of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. It aims to support economic growth in the Kingdom, raise the efficiency of spending and achieve sustainability and financial stability in line with the objectives of Vision 2030.
An official source stated that The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia welcomes the agreement reached in Sweden between the delegation of the legitimate government in Yemen and the Houthi delegation. The source stressed that the Kingdom, under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, is committed to reaching a political solution in Yemen to ensure its security, stability and territorial integrity.
His Royal Highness Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman today broke ground on the King Salman Energy Park (SPARK), located in the Kingdom’s Eastern Province. SPARK is a 50-square-kilometer energy city mega-project, which will position Saudi Arabia as a global energy, industrial and technology hub. The first phase of the development will be completed by 2021. Saudi Aramco is developing, operating, managing and maintaining the city's infrastructure, in partnership with the Saudi Organization for Industrial Estates and Technology Zones (MODON).
The King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) announced the successful launch of the Saudi Sat 5A and the Saudi Sat 5B satellites on Friday. HH Prince Turki Bin Saud Bin Mohammed, President of KACST, said that the launching took place at 12:12 pm Beijing time on the Long March 2D from the Jiuquan Satellite Launch Center of China.
As part of The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center's on going efforts to reduce risks associated with landmines that have been indiscriminately planted in Yemen by the Iran-backed Houthi militia, the Masam project for landmine clearance announced on Friday that during the third week of November, it has cleared 21,784 mines and other improvised explosive devices and unexploded ordnance in Marib and the western coast of Yemen.
The Arab coalition to restore legitimacy to Yemen officially handed over responsibility for protecting the Hadramout region’s coastline to the Yemeni coast guard on Thursday. Boats equipped with weapons, communication devices and radars were given to the coast guard to help carry out its role. Coast guard duties include managing regional ports, maintaining security on the Arabian Sea coastline, and preventing the smuggling of arms, drugs or people into the region.
