(WASHINGTON, DC) - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz warned that terrorists will target the West if the world does not unite to confront them. King Abdullah made the statement during a presentation of credentials ceremony held in Jeddah yesterday for new ambassadors to Saudi Arabia, including U.S. Ambassador Joseph W. Westphal.
“If neglected I'm sure they [terrorists] will reach Europe in a month and America in another month,” said King Abdullah.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdulaziz Al-AsShaikh, who is also Chairman of the Council of Senior Ulema (religious scholars) and the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, called on young people not to follow the devious assertions of jihad by groups whose ideologies contradict Islam. Sheikh Al-AsShaik made this appeal following the arrests in northern Riyadh on Monday of eight people on suspicion of recruiting minors for extremists groups abroad.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir condemned the taking of U.N. peacekeepers in the Golan Heights, as well as the siege being laid against other U.N. personnel.
"These violent actions are condemned in the strongest possible terms," said Ambassador Al-Jubeir. "The taking of hostages and the assault on other peacekeepers violates all international laws, norms and standards."
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Arabia’s security forces on Monday arrested eight nationals on suspicion of recruiting minors for extremists groups abroad. The arrests occurred in northern Riyadh, following complaints from concerned citizens and parents that minors were approached to join or support such groups. The suspects are currently in custody pending further investigation.
The arrests were made as part of a security operation implementing a royal decree that forbids any involvement in terrorist and extremist organizations.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Saudi Ambassador to the U.S., Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, condemned the savage murder of James Foley and extended his condolences to Mr. Foley's family and friends. "There is no religion or faith that condones the killing of the innocent," Al-Jubeir said. He added that "according to Islam, the killing of an innocent soul is tantamount to the killing of all of humanity."

(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz approved $1 million to support humanitarian operations in the West Bank. The donation was in response to a proposal by the World Food Programme targeting 81,000 Palestinians.

(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today in Jeddah, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal led an emergency meeting with the Executive Committee of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to develop recommendations in an effort to end the current crisis occurring in Palestine. Palestinian Prime Minister Dr. Rami Alhamd-Allah and a number of ministers were also in attendance.

King Abdullah congratulated President Masum on appointing Mr. Al-Abadi as a prime minister, wishing Iraq steady security, stability and prosperity.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi yesterday in Jeddah to discuss joint efforts to combat terrorism across the Middle East. The visit marks President Al-Sisi’s first visit to Saudi Arabia since his election.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz today issued an order to donate $1 billion in assistance to the Lebanese Army, the Internal Security Forces and all official security forces for efforts to preserve security and stability in Lebanon and combat extremists and terrorism in the region. The donation comes after a terrorist attack last week on the Lebanese Armed Forces in Arsal in which seven soldiers were killed.
