The Saudi Committee for the Relief of the Palestinian People signed a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) for the establishment of twelve university libraries in Palestine at a cost of SR 12 million [$3.2 million]. The agreement was signed in Paris by Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to UNESCO Ambassador Ziad Al-Draees and UNESCO Vice Executive President Hans Orivel.
The 35th annual awards ceremony for the King Faisal International Prize was held in the Prince Sultan Grand Hall of the Al-Faisaliah Center in Riyadh this evening. Dr. Abdullah Al-Saleh Al-Othaimeen, the Secretary General of the King Faisal International Prize, announced the winners of the award, while Crown Prince Salman handed out the prizes and offered congratulations.
The competition included four categories this year.
The 24th Arab League (AL) Summit concluded its deliberation in Doha today with the issuance of a final statement addressing a wide array of regional issues. The meeting included the participation of Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz and other leaders from across the Arab world. AL Deputy Secretary-General Ahmed bin Helli read the Doha Declaration to the gathering.
Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz began the Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh this afternoon with a review of the latest events and developments in the regional and international arenas. The Cabinet hailed the speech of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz at the 30th session of the Council of Arab Interior Ministers, which was held in Riyadh last week.
Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz received Britain’s Heir Apparent, Charles, Prince of Wales, at his ranch in Dir’iyya yesterday evening. Crown Prince Salman took the British delegation on a tour of Ouja Palace, during which they viewed photographs and historical antiquities related to King Abdulaziz, the founder of the modern Kingdom, and the city of Riyadh. Then, Crown Prince Salman hosted a dinner in honor of Prince Charles.
Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Abdulaziz bin Mohieddin Khoja received Undersecretary of the U.S. Department of State for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman in Riyadh today. During the meeting, the two sides held cordial talks and reviewed bilateral relations.
Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz patronized the ceremony marking the selection of Madinah as the capital of Islamic culture for the year 1434 H. [2013] this evening. Accompanying by several senior officials, the Crown Prince toured the Ma’araz Al-Eiman Exhibition and viewed photos depicting the history of Madinah.
Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal headed the Kingdom’s delegation to the 139th ordinary session of the Foreign Ministers of the Arab League Council in Cairo today. During his remarks, Prince Saud presented a proposal to form a neutral, independent working group made up of representatives from various Arab states to develop ideas for increasing the effectiveness of the Arab League.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Saud Al-Faisal and U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry today held a joint press conference in Riyadh to discuss issues of mutual interest. During his visit, Secretary Kerry also met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
“I am looking forward to working together to continue the support of historical, strong and strategic relations between our two friendly countries, and to confront regional and global challenges of common concern,” said Prince Saud.
