Mr. President,
Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir today hosted a reception marking the 80th anniversary (82nd according to the Hijra calendar) of the founding of the Kingdom by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud. Guests included U.S. government officials, members Congress and the diplomatic corps, and embassy staff and members of the Saudi community in Washington.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its 82nd (according to the Hijra calendar) anniversary of the foundation of the Saudi state by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 1932.
“Under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz, Saudi Arabia continues to witness rapid transformation and economic growth,” said Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir. “Today the people of Saudi Arabia are celebrating the achievements of their past while looking forward to their future.”
Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz began the weekly Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah today with a briefing on the latest consultations held between Saudi and foreign leaders and officials.
Then, the Cabinet was briefed on the report of the 21st Ordinary Session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva. The ministers reiterated the Kingdom’s objections to the flagrant violations inflicted on the Palestinian people by Israeli authorities and vowed to continue raising attention to them at international bodies.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Saudi Arabia’s Grand Mufti Shaikh Abdulaziz Al-AsShaikh, who is also Chairman of the Council of Senior Ulema (religious scholars) and the General Presidency of Scholarly Research and Ifta, Saturday, September 15, 2012, denounced attacks on diplomats and embassies as un-Islamic and stressed that the best way to stand by the Prophet (peace be upon him) is to follow his Sunnah (teachings), spread his virtues and the values of Islam.
