(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal addressed the inaugural International Conference of the Friends of the Syrian People meeting in Tunisia. During his speech, Prince Saud stressed that Saudi Arabia will be at the forefront of any international effort to achieve a comprehensive and effective solution to protect the Syrian people.

I would like to first thank the Government of Tunisia for arranging this important meeting, particularly at a time when it is preoccupied with the task of building a new Tunisia.
The gathering of all these countries and organizations reflects the concern and interest of the international community towards what is going on in Syria.

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received at his palace in Riyadh today a number of guests, including scholars, writers, thinkers and media representatives from inside and outside the Kingdom, who came to attend the 27th National Festival for Heritage and Culture in Al-Janadriyah. Speaking to the group, the King welcomed the visitors and praised them for serving their religion and homelands.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz patronized the opening ceremony of the 27th National Festival for Heritage and Culture, an event organized annually by the National Guard, in Al-Janadriyah yesterday afternoon. Upon arrival at the venue, King Abdullah received Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa and UAE Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al-Nahyan. He also met with South Korean President Lee Myung-bak, whose country is the guest of honor at this year’s festival.

A royal decree was issued today cancelling the annual operetta of the National Festival for Heritage and Culture in Janadriyah this year, in solidarity with the Syrian people, who are being terrorized and killed, and also in recognition of those who have died in Egypt, Yemen, Libya and Tunisia.
