Minister of Justice Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkareem Al-Isa met in Washington yesterday with U.S. Supreme Court Chief Justice John Roberts. During the meeting, Dr. Al-Isa briefed Chief Justice Roberts on efforts to develop the judiciary in the Kingdom within the framework of the Judiciary Development Project of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. He noted that the Saudi judiciary provides strong guarantees that enhance the confidence bestowed upon it as a protector of rights and freedoms.
The winners of the King Faisal International Prize for 2012 were announced at an awards ceremony in Riyadh yesterday. Makkah Governor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal bin Abdulaziz, who serves as Chairman of the King Faisal International Prize Commission, said during a speech that the award is the King Faisal Foundation’s way of honoring and supporting intellectuals and scientists. The Prize is awarded in five categories, including service to Islam, Islamic studies, Arabic language and literature, medicine, and science. Since its inception in 1399 H.
The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and an accompanying delegation at his palace in Riyadh today. During their talks, Wen conveyed the greetings of Chinese President Hu Jintao, and then the two sides discussed Saudi-Chinese relations and regional and international issues.
Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal received U.S. State Department Undersecretary for Political Affairs Wendy Sherman at his office in Riyadh yesterday. During the meeting, issues of mutual interest were reviewed. The meeting was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Dr. Khalid Al-Jandan; and U.S. Ambassador to the Kingdom James Smith.
