At the outset of the weekly Cabinet session at Al-Yamamah Palace in Riyadh today, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz expressed his appreciation for the numerous good wishes sent from leaders around the world on the occasion of Saudi Arabia’s 81st National Day. He asked Allah Almighty to perpetuate the security and stability of the Kingdom, allowing it to continue serving the Arab and Islamic worlds.

Statement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Before the Sixty-Sixth Session of the United Nations General Assembly New York September 26, 2011
Mr. President,
(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz announced today that Saudi women will be allowed to vote in the third municipal elections. Addressing the opening session of the annual Majlis Al-Shura (Consultative Council) meeting, King Abdullah also announced that women will be appointed to the Council beginning in the next session.
In an a statement issued today, the White House welcomed the announcement of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz that Saudi women will be appointed to the Majlis Al-Shoura (consultative council) and will be allowed to participate in future municipal elections. “We welcome Saudi King Abdullah’s announcement today that women will serve as full members of the Shoura Council in the next session, and will have the right to participate in future elections,” said the White House statement.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its 81st (according to the Hijra calendar) anniversary of the founding of the Saudi state in 1932 by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud.
“Saudi Arabia has grown to become a full contributor to the global community, promoting national goals of diplomacy, tolerance and innovation,” said Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir. “As we look ahead to a bright future, we continue to invest in the citizens of Saudi Arabia who will be the ones to strengthen the place of our nation in the world.”

(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia signed an agreement with the United Nations to create the UN Centre for Counter Terrorism. The agreement was signed yesterday by Prince Saud Al-Faisal, Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister and Ban Ki-moon, Secretary-General of the United Nations, at the 66th session of the United Nations General Assembly. Saudi Arabia will contribute $10 million over the next three years to set up the anti-terrorism center.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - In an interview with KSA2, Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir emphasized the strong relationship between Saudi Arabia and the U.S. as the Kingdom prepares for its National Day celebration on September 23.

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Saudi Arabia is one of the top 20 most competitive economies in the world, according to the annual Global Competiveness Report released this week by the World Economic Forum. The Kingdom was ranked 17th, up from 21st last year. The World Economic Forum examined the business operating environments and competitiveness of more than 130 economies worldwide.
