(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, during a televised speech, The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz announced a series of royal decrees. These decrees will increase benefits, create new law enforcement jobs at the Ministry of Interior, provide funds for new housing projects, and expand healthcare facilities.
“King Abdullah has continuously demonstrated his commitment to his people through unprecedented reforms in all areas of their lives including housing, employment and healthcare,” said Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
The High Panel on Peace and Dialogue Among Cultures held a meeting at United Nations headquarters in New York last night under the chairmanship of UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers concluded their meeting today in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with a pledge of a 10 year, $20 billion economic support package for Bahrain and Oman. Each country will receive $10 billion for economic development.
“This decision is a clear signal of the GCC’s commitment to support two of its member states, Bahrain and Oman,” said Saudi Ambassador to the United States Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir.
The GCC is comprised of Bahrain, Oman, Kuwait, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – His Excellency Minister Ali Al-Naimi, the Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia discussed recent concerns surrounding crude oil prices and reserves in an interview with the Saudi Press Agency. During the interview, he outlined the ways the Kingdom is working to ensure stability in the oil market and discussed the recent surge in prices.
At the outset of the weekly Cabinet session in Riyadh today, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz gave a briefing on his contacts over the past few days with foreign officials, including a telephone call he received from Turkish President Abdullah Gul. Afterwards, the Cabinet stressed the importance of the statement issued by the Senior Scholars Commission over the weekend, in which it called for national unity during this time of regional turmoil and warned against unlawful demonstrations.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Last night, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, hosted a private screening of Arabia 3D at the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History in Washington, D.C. There were more than 450 guests in attendance, including members of Congress, former U.S. ambassadors to Saudi Arabia and members of the diplomatic corps. To date, Arabia 3D has been seen by more than 700,000 people in the U.S. and abroad since its premiere last year.
