(WASHINGTON, DC) – The official statement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia at the General Debate of the Sixty-Fifth Session of the United Nations was distributed on September 25. The statement, issued by Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal called for continued humanitarian aid to Pakistan following the devastating floods. In addition, it spoke to a number of security issues, including Saudi Arabia’s aggressive counterterrorism program and the need for a nuclear-free Middle East.
Saudi Arabia has called for the strengthening of global cooperation to confront terrorism, which is at odds with the principles of tolerance, peace and respect promoted by Islam, Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal said in a statement issued in New York on the occasion of the 65th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations.

I have pleasure in expressing to Your Excellency my sincere congratulations on your election as President of this sixty-fifth session of the General Assembly of the United Nations. Your election was a token of esteem not only for you personally but also for the positive role that your country, Switzerland, is playing at the international level. I am fully confident that your presidency of this session will make an effective contribution to the achievement of the goals that the international community is pursuing under the present international circumstances.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – A recent report by the World Bank highlighted the importance and high volume of humanitarian assistance that has come out of the Arab world during the past four decades. The report emphasized that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates have been among the most generous in the world, with official development assistance (ODA) averaging 1.5 percent of their combined gross national income (GNI) during the period 1973-2008, more than twice the United Nations target of 0.7 percent.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia celebrates its 80th (according to the Hijra calendar) anniversary of the foundation of the Saudi state by King Abdulaziz Al-Saud in 1932.
A royal order was issued today establishing the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud International Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Deeds. The announcement was made by Prince Khalid bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud, the new Deputy President of the Foundation’s Council of Trustees.
