(WASHINGTON, DC) - Today, Saudi Arabia's Ambassador to the United States, Adel bin Ahmed Al-Jubeir, presented the King Abdulaziz Medal - First Class to Mr. Joseph W. Grant, a U.S. World War II pilot, on behalf of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud at the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia.
Makkah Governor Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, the President of the King Faisal International Prize Panel, held a press conference in Riyadh last night to announce the 2009 Prize winners. The Prince noted that the Prize reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to promoting scientific and cultural achievement.
Secretary General of the King Faisal International Prize Dr. Abdullah Al-Othaimeen announced the winners of the Prize, which was awarded in five categories: Islamic Studies, Arabic Language and Literature, Science, Medicine and Service to Islam.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - Saudi Foreign Minister, HRH Prince Saud Al-Faisal, today welcomed the unanimous passage of a UN Security Council resolution calling for the immediate end to hostilities in Gaza. Prince Saud also called upon all parties to strictly adhere to the resolution to help achieve a just and comprehensive peace.

The Foreign Ministers of the Arab League have come to New York to urge the Security Council to take immediate action to end the hostilities in Gaza.
(WASHINGTON, DC) – Attending a special session by the UN Security Council to discuss the situation in Gaza, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Saud Al-Faisal urged the council to take swift action to end the violence.
"It is the responsibility of the Council to end conflicts as soon as possible, and the current conflict in Gaza should be no exception," stated Prince Saud. "The Council has not yet taken concrete action. This raises questions about its credibility and the whole system of international peace and security."
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s "Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Campaign to Provide Humanitarian Relief to the Palestinian People in Gaza" has raised more than $32 million in donations to provide humanitarian relief to the people of Gaza.
Following the initial 11-hour fundraising period, the Campaign continues to receive donations from citizens and residents throughout the Kingdom.
The Campaign is part of a broader humanitarian effort by the Kingdom to provide humanitarian assistance to the Palestinian people during this difficult time.
(WASHINGTON, DC) - The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia launched “the Custodian of The Two Holy Mosques Campaign to Provide Humanitarian Relief to the Palestinian People in Gaza.” This effort is a nationwide endeavor which is coordinated by a number of entities, including representative of the provincial governments, the Ministry of Culture and Information, the Chambers of Commerce and Industry, and a number of other departments. The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz initiated the fund with a donation of $8 million.
