Crown Prince Salman opens 11th session of GCC Defense Ministers

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz inaugurated the 11th session of the Joint Defense Council of the Ministers of Defense of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states in Riyadh today. Addressing the gathering, the Crown Prince conveyed the greetings of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and offered reassurances regarding the health of the Saudi monarch. Then, he laid out the session’s agenda, saying, “At this meeting, we will discuss what has been achieved by committees and working groups that met during the past few months. I thank all for their great efforts and recommendations. Our meeting today comes at the conclusion of these meetings aiming to enhance the efforts of all armed forces in the GCC states to confront the risks that might emerge.”

The session is being attended by GCC Secretary General Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani; Kuwaiti Defense Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Khalid Al-Sabah; Omani Minister in Charge of Defense Affairs Badr bin Saud bin Harib Al-Busaeedi; Bahraini Minister of State for Defense Affairs Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdullah bin Khalid Al-Khalifah; UAE Minister of Economy Sultan bin Saeed Al-Mansoori; and Qatari Chief of Staff Maj. Gen. Hamad bin Ali Al-A’ateyah.
