King Abdullah receives visiting Palestinian President

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz received Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas at his palace in Riyadh today. During their meeting, they discussed developments in the Palestinian situation and efforts to put the peace process back on track. The two leaders stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and facilitate the achievement of a just and comprehensive peace based on the Arab Peace Initiative and U.N. resolutions.

The audience was attended by Chief of General Intelligence Muqrin bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud; Deputy Commander of the National Guard for Executive Affairs Prince Miteb bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz; and Advisor to the King Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. The Palestinian side included Secretary-General of the Palestinian Liberation Organization’s (PLO) Executive Committee Yasser Abd Rabbo, PLO Executive Committee member Dr. Saeb Erekat; Presidential Spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeina; and Palestinian Ambassador to the Kingdom Jamal Al-Shobaki.

Following the meeting, the Palestinian President departed the Kingdom, concluding a one-day visit.
