‎1,379,531 pilgrims from 188 countries arrived for Hajj

His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Naif bin Abdulaziz, Minister of Interior and Chairman of ‎Hajj Supreme Committee, in a cable to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin ‎Abdulaziz, announced that a total of 1,379,531 pilgrims from 188 countries arrived in the Kingdom ‎for this year's Hajj.  The figure represents a decrease of 377,439 or 21% compared to the previous ‎year.  Prince Mohammed noted that of the foreign pilgrims, 752,424 (55%) were male and 627,107 ‎‎(45%) female.  In 2012, the General of the Department of Statistics and Information reported that 64.3% ‎of the pilgrims were male, while 35.7% were female.‎ 

According to the Hajj Supreme Committee, 1,292,098 arrived by air, 72,535 arrived by land, and ‎‎14,898 pilgrims arrived by sea

Governor of Makkah Province Prince Khalid Al-Faisal, who is also Chairman of Hajj Central Committee, ‎announced today that this year, 117,000 domestic Hajj permissions were issued and that over 70,000 people ‎were caught trying to illegally enter the area without proper permits.‎
