King Abdullah, President Al-Assad hold talks

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz and Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad held two rounds of talks in Damascus today. During their talks, the two leaders focused on regional and international developments, specially the Palestinian issue, and on Saudi-Syrian relations.

Prior to the meeting, President Al-Assad awarded King Abdullah the Umayyah National Medal, the country's highest civilian honor. In return, King Abdullah presented President Al-Assad with the King Abdulaziz Medal, the Kingdom’s highest award which is bestowed to heads of state and world leaders.

Afterwards, an agreement was signed by Saudi Finance Minister Ibrahim Al-Assaf and Syrian Finance Minister Muhammad Al-Husayn on the avoidance of double taxation and the prevention of tax evasion on income and capital.

King Abdullah arrived in Damascus earlier today on an official visit.
