Crown Prince chairs Cabinet session (9/30/13)

Crown Prince Salman bin Abdulaziz began the Cabinet session at Al-Salam Palace in Jeddah this afternoon by thanking God Almighty for bestowing upon the Kingdom the blessings of safety, security, development and stability under the leadership of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz. He thanked the citizens of the Kingdom for their expressions of national pride on the occasion of the 81th (83nd according to the Hijra calendar) National Day of Saudi Arabia.

Then, the Council reviewed the latest regional and international developments, including the works of the 68th session of the United Nations General Assembly. The ministers listened to a report on the activities of the Saudi delegation to the meeting and reiterated the Kingdom’s positions on various issues of global concern.

Turning to local affairs, the Cabinet was reassured about the preparations being made to ensure that all pilgrims can perform Hajj rituals with comfort and ease. They noted the holding of the Conference on Crowd Medicine and Human Gatherings, welcoming the fact that the Kingdom is a global role model in dealing with health issues during mass gatherings.

Finally, the Council expressed gratitude to King Abdullah for his continuous support for youths and sports in the Kingdom, which has allowed Saudis to participate in various international sporting events.

Turning to its weekly agenda, the Cabinet approved a number of actions related to the development of the quality of health services; approved a memoranda of understanding between the Saudi Financial Intelligence Unit, the Jordanian Unit for Combating Money Laundering and the Financing of Terrorism, the Colombian Unit for Financial Information Analysis, and the Sri Lankan Financial Intelligence Unit for Cooperation in the field of exchanging information on money laundering and terror financing; approved minting additional quantities of fifty Halalas coins; approved the renewal of the cooperation agreement in the field of veterinary services between the Kingdom and Egypt; and approved the appointment of three businessmen as members of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality for a period of three years.
