GCC Ministers of Labor meet in Riyadh

The Council of Labor Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) held its 29th session in Riyadh today under the chairmanship of Saudi Minister of Labor Adel bin Mohammed Faqih. Topics on the meeting’s agenda included the implementation of employment programs to increase opportunities for national employment and joint initiatives to regulate the GCC labor market.

At the conclusion of the session, the conferees stressed the need for increasing the employment of national workers in GCC countries, while also calling for cooperation with the International Labor Organization to implement business programs. Furthermore, they urged the GCC member state to form national public institutions responsible for developing plans and strategies to support the establishment of small enterprises.
