July 31, 2012
Interior Minister Prince Ahmad bin Abdulaziz, the General Supervisor of the Saudi National Campaign to Support the Brothers in Syria, has ordered the dispatch of the first relief convoy to bring aid to Syrian refugees. A total of forty trucks will depart on Thursday carrying foodstuffs and other items donated by the Saudi people to refugees living in countries neighboring Syria.
As of 6 pm yesterday evening, the Campaign had raised a total of SR 440 million [$117.32], in addition to collecting large quantities of relief supplies. Donations continue to be collected by the National Commercial Bank and in-kind donations are being accepted at the Campaign’s central warehouses in Riyadh and Jeddah.
