June 8, 2012
Omar Al-Awadi, Deputy Permanent Representative of the Kingdom to the United Nations, has called upon the world community to shoulder its responsibilities and put an end to the bloodshed in Syria. In a speech before a session of the U.N. General Assembly focused on the current crisis, Al-Awadi called for the establishment of a buffer zone inside Syria to provide a safe haven for civilians. Furthermore, Al-Awadi asked the countries and organizations still supporting the Syrian regime to reconsider their policies in favor of the unarmed Syrian people who face the danger of genocide.
